Dubbed as the Albons of Northern Ireland, Brother and sister Keith Clarke and Gail Ryan both came 1st at Mud Madness – the recent Active OCR UK Championship qualifying race in Northern Ireland with Keith having won it for an astonishing 5 years in a row!

Review of OCRA UK Volunteer Marshall Familiarisation Course (VMFC) No 2

The 2nd OCRA UK VMFC was held on Sat 25th April and yet again enjoyed a full course of eager students, The course was held on a Saturday this time in response to requests from students that not everyone could attend a week day course and with that in mind going forward each course will be limited to 25 participants in each group for safety reasons.

With the third qualifier for the UK OCR Championship 2015 under our belt we will continue to look at some of the athletes who have qualified and will be attending the inaugural Independent UK OCR Championship in November 2015, administered by OCRAUK and hosted at Nuclear Events. The next Reaper marshal training course will be held on Sunday 17th May from 9.30am until 4.30pm at The Obstacle Gym in Lutterworth. The cost is £35. I would be grateful if you could publicise as widely as possible on your media.

After huge demand the next OCRA UK Volunteer/Marshall Familiarisation Course is being held on Sat 25th April at The Compton Club, Compton, Surrey. You will cover subjects such as….Roles & Responsibilities, What to take with you, The history of OCR, How a race day is run, First aid, etc. On completion of the course you will be automatically qualified to help at all courses sponsored by OCRA.

When you are running through the mud and tackling brutal obstacles you aren’t always able to carry the information required that would best assist the you and those around you in the case of an emergency. This can be a particular concern for runners who are running on their own or with a team.

OCR Marshal Training Course provided by Reaper Events

March 1st saw the first running of the OCR Marshal Training Course provided by Reaper Events. Held at The Obstacle Gym near Lutterworth, attendees spent the morning talking about the theoretical aspects of the marshal’s role followed by a radio communication session and time out on the course to put their now found knowledge to use.
