OCRA UK organise and run training courses for anybody that wants to get involved in marshalling at races. On these one day courses you will cover subjects such as:
- Roles & Responsibilities
- What to take with you
- The history of OCR & OCRA UK
- How a race day is run
- How to Deal with common injuries at an OCR
- Official adjudicating at championship qualifying events
On completion of the course you will receive a certificate of completion and an official OCRA UK Marshal HI Viz vest so that race staff and competitors know you have attended the course.
The course is both serious with some fun thrown in and loads of student participation but don’t take our word for it, here is what some of the last students had to say about it:
After completing the course I now feel I can provide both public and runners with a high level of care and safety at future events. Stuart A
I would recommend this course to experienced volunteers or complete novices. I came away from the course with a thorough understanding or what is expected of a volunteer and how to deal with different situations during a race. Tom N
Thoroughly enjoyable day. Left feeling confident I could perform future marshall/volunteer duties safely and competently after discussing, in depth, any or most situations that may arise. Kerrie F
This course covered all aspects of marshalling from recognising hypothermia to crowd control and your own comfort. Well worth doing. Carl G
